I just finished this painting yesterday, photographed it, and took it with 33 others to hang in my first solo show in Los Angeles, at 410 Boyd. My opening reception is next Thursday, 2 days after the 21st century officially begins. I’m glad my first solo show here is to be held in the 21st century. It seems appropriate for the work I’ve done.
“Invalidation Is My Bitch” was the last piece I completed for my show, “The Fine Art Of Free Will”. I realized only today, while writing my statement for the show, that it truly is a culmination of the path I’ve been on since I decided to move out here in 2006. My abstract work began developing at that time. Moving out to LA gave me the push I was looking for to drop my previous style of painting and embrace what in my heart of hearts I wanted to do. Took some doing, and I’m proud of the results. And also feel like I am only just beginning, again. Cheers for that newness.
Some of the works I completed are so new, they’re not even on my website yet. This is the first showing online of this painting. I’ll spend some time this week updating, but for now I just need to relax and rest up. This promises to be a very wonderful and most interesting week.

Best of luck with your show – and do post pics from your opening!
It is wonderful that you have been able to follow your heart….
Congratulations on your show and good luck! As much as I like this painting, I like the title even more. Maybe it’s because of the place I’m in right now, but it’s so true.
Invalidate me and I’ll show you! Tell me I can’t and I’ll prove to you I can.
I’m sorry that I missed you inauguration party. My wife has the flu. Good times. I hope that you guys had a blast. We will meet one day – flu free.

Awesome title(sounds like something I would name one of my pieces!) and strong work. Your color choices and textures are refreshingly dynamic.
