“Dawn” here, in all its energetic glory along with its pretty details. I have tried to capture as many variations in color and iridescence as possible, without glaring glare getting in the way. And only a few reflections, can you find them?
Colors: Violet, lavender, purple, cobalt, turquoise, lime green, cadmium yellow light, metallic gold, interference violet, magenta. A tiny bit of glitter, which does not show up here.

Love that metallic gold and interference violet!
“Dawn” has been chosen tonight in honor of me getting up tomorrow at dawn, for a road trip to Las Vegas. I have never been there or set foot inside a casino, before tomorrow that is. My husband’s sister is there for a conference and invited us to stay with her for two days. A short break is a happy thing right now. Plus a road trip is so much fun, especially through the desert. I have my ipod loaded, just want to make one more playlist. In honor of Vegas, I am naming it “Crazy”.
It has not escaped my notice that I am getting ready to begin teaching grounding classes and going to Las Vegas while doing so. I am thinking of it as a field trip, “research”. People do not go to Las Vegas to ground. Au contraire. One would think living in Los Angeles would be research enough. Hmmm….
Anyway, I may blog the next two days, and then again, I may not. I will be taking lots of fun photos on my trip. Some of which I may even post here, depending.

Have a great time!
Hey, what you paint in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Have a wonderful, safe trip! Get out your camera.
If you have time detour to Death Valley, wild flowers will be rampant.
Best to you two.- Andrea
Have fun! I have never been either. Chris went for the first time last month. He didn’t expect to like it, but he did, and he had fun.

Before I ever went to Vegas, I vowed never to go to Vegas, until I ended up there and was enchanted by the place.
It was everything I loved to hate and completely decadent and useless. It only existed to forget the world at large around you and it was like being on some strange movie set about a corrupted society in the future, but I loved the feel of the place.
I never need to go back there, I’ve done it once and that is enough. I played a slot machine all night and lost $40 in quarters, but that was alright. It was fun and I also watched a show and it was so bad that it was good. All glitter and fluff.
I hope you have a good time there and find the enchantment that I did.
OH MY glad I am not there or I would not have a home to come back to…I am a gambling fool!
Vegas is certainly an experience you won’t forget. I enjoyed the crazy energy along the strip and was surprised that the rest of the city seemed like any other city. I can’t wait to hear how your trip was!
And oh, the colors of Dawn… very nice (in Borat’s voice)!
wow this is gorgeous Kris…
have a kick up your heels….bright nights time in Vegas
ps my Mum adored your ‘garden’ work at my site
Woo-hoo! Have an awesome time!
Kris,
I enjoy your blog very much. Your color choices are quite wonderful! I use Golden acrylic in the jars but was wondering if this Nova is a good replacement? How close do they compliment one another in color and texture? If possible check out my blog…it has been up just a week and I would be pleased to have a visitor!! Hope Las Vegas was good to you!

LOL, guess where I am going saturday, VEGAS LOL! It is going to be soooooooooooo fun to see your pics and see if I recognize where. If by some bizarre chance I recognize you and a mad woman rushes up to you blathering in brit speak then you will know it’s me.
LOve the colours in your painting.
Have a great trip to Vegas
Kris –
I have this great fascination with Las Vegas. It’s all wrapped up with Bugsy Siegel, Howard Hughes, the Rat Pack, Elvis, Wayne Newton, Siegfried and Roy, nuclear testing, the Mob, Celine Dion, slot zombies, all you can eat buffets, the Cesear’s sports book, bus loads of seniors, high rollers, down and outers.
I can’t take more than two days there. There are no clocks in the casinos, because really, time is not your friend. The longer you stay, the longer odds get that you walk out with any money. Check out all that glitz, palaces of sin, all financed on the backs of the poor schmucks who dropped a load of cash playing games of chance.
When you have a hot hand, nothing quite like it. “Money won is twice as sweet as money earned.” But those ringing slot machines are some kind of babel of hell.
Anyway, have a great time! Check out the Liberace museum!
Thank you for your visit and comments, everyone! I got back safe and sound
last night and will make my report today, complete with photos.
